Sampson is a sweet little 9 year old Mini who needs a home. His owners divorced and moved, and suddenly there was no place for him. He is understandably very anxious about all the changes in his life lately so we are giving him some calming medication. We think that when he finds a secure, stable situation, the medication can be phased out. When he came into rescue, he had not been groomed for a long time because his owner said that he had snapped at the previous groomer. We have been working with him to get all of the matted hair off and he has been doing well. We have just been going slowly and limiting the length of the sessions.
Sampson tends to bark, or actually almost scream when he is scared in a new situation, but he calms down with patience. He doesn’t like car rides. He would do well with a patient owner who has had experience with terriers. A quiet, calm household with no children would be best. A backyard for him to play in would be good rather than walks where he would encounter unknown people and other dogs. He has had previous doggie companions that made him feel comfortable and secure. This is a dog that will require a patient understanding owner, but he will give you his heart in return.
