Running Bear has been adopted!
This little Bear needs love! He survived for about 7 years in one of the “Dirty Dozen” puppy mills in Missouri that was recently closed. He is small (about 14 pounds) and physically healthy. He is black with some brindling, cropped ears and a docked tail. He seems to be keeping his crate clean, but will probably require some work and belly bands to house train him. He is interested in what is going on around him, and will follow other dogs to his foster mom when they are outside. He needs a lot of love and patience. Bear needs help to heal some of his emotional scars. He has never had much positive people contact and so needs work with his socialization. The good news is that in the time he has been in rescue, he hasn’t tried to bite. The bad news is that he would put a bucking bronco to shame! He twists and turns to try to escape, and will run, so an experienced terrier/puppy mill dog owner and a secure living area is very important for him. Bear did well on his recent photo shoot. He got along very well with the three other dogs and the three human strangers. He actually came up to people seeking attention, pets and treats. Since that intense afternoon, he has been better with his foster mom, letting her pick him up more easily, and not being quite so difficult to catch after his âoutsideâ time. He is currently in foster care with experienced schnauzer-owning fosters and they will give us updates on his progress that we will post to the Facebook page.
Bear is neutered, he is up to date on his shots (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative and on preventative while in rescue, and micro chipped.
