Adopt Roxy: a loving wolfy girl

03/09/2016 – Roxy has been adopted!

Roxy was surrendered by her previous family because she had a thing for those pesky “goat stickers.” She ate those from her “yard” a few times and ended up at the vet with infections and the last time with a terrible mouth abscess that burst! However, she’s on the mend, and she’s a sweet girl, very happy go lucky and non-confrontational. She can be shy and scared when she first meets people, but she does great with everybody and gets along with other dogs just fine. She loves being petted and will ask for it, but at the same time, she doesn’t constantly ask for attention, she knows how to be independent too. She adapts well to new situations and will do great in her new home. She knows some commands like “sit”, “in the kennel”, “lay down”, “come here”, and she likes to please. We’re looking for a caring person that can give her lots of love, tasty food, and attention, as well as a nice, well fenced-in yard without anything that could be dangerous for her. She hasn’t been seen chewing on anything else other than her food, so that’s good.

Roxy’s Story & Updates:

Feb. 27, 2016:

We are at the emergency vet with a new owner surrender. This little 5 year old schnauzer-yorkie, Roxy, lived in a rural part of Colorado where there are lots of cockle burrs and she managed to get some stuck in the back of her mouth. The family had their hands full with 4 small children so they contacted us and we rushed to get her this afternoon. We determined that we can’t wait to get her taken care of since a hefty infection has set in, thus the emergency vet visit. She’ll be fine but could use some good thoughts as she goes under anesthesia to get fixed up.

If you are interested in donating to help fund the cost of this unexpected emergency visit, you can do so via PayPal at cominischnauzerrescue.com/donate, or via check to 11757 West Ken Caryl Ave. Suite F-276, Littleton CO 80127. Thank you!!

Feb. 28, 2016:

Roxy update: We took her home last night and she was pretty sleepy. She wanted nothing to do with water, food, or people, despite our doggies’ interest in her! The poor thing has lost a lot of weight recently due to the tremendous pain in her mouth, so I’m glad she’s on the mend, but she’ll have to be nursed back to health. We’re letting her take it easy and using a syringe to give her water, nutrition, and pain meds. I made a cone for her, since we didn’t have one. She looks so cute, the little flower pup! ?? Thanks for everyone’s support with this girl. Every bit helps! ?

Feb. 29, 2016:

Roxy update: She’s doing WAY better today. Yesterday she started eating watered down food from her bowl, which perked her up a lot. She was hungry! Today, she was washed and clipped (she really needed to be freshened up, as she was a stinky country girl!). She got to walk around the yard without her cone for a little while, enjoying the fresh air, and now she’s taking a nice nap. So much action for her! Her wound is starting to heal, though it’s still a little rough. At least she seems like she’s not in so much pain. She lays on her back and puts her chin on my hands to get pets. So sweet. ?
