02/12/2016 – Holly has been adopted!!!
Meet Holly! This 11 pound sweetie spent her first 5 years in a puppy mill, breeding puppies for sale. She’s had a rough start! But that doesn’t stop her from learning something new everyday. She’s quite smart and comical! We think she is a Maltese mix, maybe Schnauzer-Maltese? She does have those cute Schnauzer eyebrows! She is timid and quiet, but she likes to be held and is happy with other dogs; she is especially social with them. At her foster home, she follows everyone everywhere, always keeping a distance from humans, but she gets brave when she wants cuddles! She has a big heart.
She has evolved so much, and although she may always be a somewhat fearful doggy, she has adapted to her new routine much sooner than other puppy mill dogs ever will. Still, she will probably do best with patient parents who spend lots of time at home, so they can teach her the ropes and potty-train her well. She has already improved a lot in that aspect too, but it’s ongoing work. Having other pet siblings would probably make her very happy too, and she’s completely non-confrontational, so they won’t feel threatened by her at all, making the transition easy.
Who wants to meet this little white cutie? Holly is spayed, she is up to date on her shots (rabies, distemper, and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative, and micro chipped. She had her teeth cleaned and blood tested while in rescue. Holly has a low thyroid problem and is receiving an inexpensive medication that she takes in her food.
